Subject: Dear Mr. Connelly
Mr. Michael
Connelly,
I just finished reading your "Dear Senator Kerry"
E-mail. It seams to be fairly popular among the service members and it has been
sent to the entire Air Force base here in Afghanistan. On one hand, things like
this are popular among Americans in the military who pay about as much
attention to politics as they would the value of the Euro.
I, on the other hand, enjoy politics and find that your e-mail
contains no references to validate your allegations. So it is nothing more than
what everyone was doing when they accused Mr. Kerry's predecessor of going AWOL
while he was in the Guard (which I'm sure you thought was an outrage when folks
would accuse him of that).
I can't say I really blame anyone
for wanting to get out of Vietnam. I feel sure I would have done the same given
the opportunity. Given the choice to stay and fight a losing war or go home,
I'm going home. To those who have stuck it out and lost family members from
that war: I do not mean any disgrace to the service that those of you or your
loved ones have given to the country. To those who went home because of
"three minor scratches"... I understand.
You spoke nothing of Mr. Kerry's
political record other than his opposition to the war. I also oppose said war
and thank him for his strength
to stand up
for his constituents and those like me who live in a Republican state and have
no senator to speak for our views. I have also supported the
president
and then changed my mind once he didn't handle the situation the way I would
have liked. I do believe I'm allowed
that right, and so is Mr. Kerry.
I for one cannot vote for the
current president. I know what he is incapable of.
